Houshang Touzie

Born in Iran, Houshang Touzie is an Actor and playwright who founded the Los Angeles-based Drama company, Workshop '79, with his actress wife Shohreh Aghdashloo, in memory of the 1979 Iranian Revolution, and to produce Drama works in Farsi outside Iran. Their major hits are "From Satellite with Love," "The Great Escape" and "An Iranian in Heaven" all socio-political satires about Iranians in Diaspora.

Houshang Touzie

Born in Iran, Houshang Touzie is an Actor and playwright. After the Iranian Revolution, he moved to New York to pursue a career in acting and drama, where he met well-known Iranian actors like Behrooz Vosooghi and Parviz Sayyad. He was offered a role in "Ferestadeh" in 1983, and in 1985 he moved from New York to Los Angeles. He met Iranian actress Shohreh Aghdashloo who later became the first Iranian Academy Award nominee, and married her in 1987. Together, they Founded the Los Angeles-based Drama company, Workshop '79 in memory of the 1979 Iranian Revolution, to produce Drama works in Farsi outside Iran.

An Iranian in Heaven Comedy by Houshang Touzie

Mr. Touzie has had several roles in movies and TV series (listed below), but has focused his recent work on theatrical productions for Workshop' 79, with successful hits like "From Satellite with Love" and "The Great Escape" both socio-political satires about Iranians in Diaspora. These comedies have entertained Persian audiences in the US, Canada and Europe. His new production "An Iranian in heaven" is expected to go on stage in different cities starting in December 2009. It is anticipated that his wife, Emmy-winning actress Shohreh Aghdashloo would also perform in this satirical play.

Houshang Touzie and Shohreh Aghdashloo live in Los Angeles and have a daughter named Tara.
